The Fruit of the Spirit
Help guide children by having them take a journey through everyday life with Digby, a typical 8-year-old boy who faces new and challenging situations. Children can enjoy, relate to, and learn from these real-life situations that Digby encounters through nine easy-to-read short stories. They can see how Digby responds to these scenarios and which fruit of the Spirit he discovers along the way. Digby, and children of all ages are not perfect, however, they all have loving hearts and want to do their best. They just need to discover what God has already given them, the fruit of the Spirit. At the conclusion of each story, there is a Bible verse and a few questions related to the pertinent fruit of the Spirit. Teachers and parents may find the questions help them serve as conversation starters to help children discover the fruit of the Spirit in their own lives.

Choose to Love
Journey with Digby, a typical eight-year-old boy, as he looks for people showing love to others in everyday life as part of a school assignment. He discovers he has a lot to learn about what love is.
Uncover the mystery of why Digby is concerned with the number 17, what car valves have to do with the heart, and why there are bubbles everywhere. Find out what a judge in a court has to do with love, why Digby is mad at his puppy, and how a muddy river turns up in the bathroom. Learn what rudeness has to do with love, why he’s so upset as he comes across slimy slobber, and the truth behind why he’s sad and what he decides to do about it.
Discover how he learns that love is not necessarily just a mushy feeling. In addition to being kind, find out the different ways Digby says we can show love…if we choose to.
Bible verses and a few questions related to God’s love follow each short story. The questions are intended to serve as conversation starters and encourage discussion in the home, church, and school. It is the author’s hope that children of all ages will learn about God’s unconditional love and choose to love others in their daily everyday lives. All the characteristics of love have been there inside all along; they just needed to be discovered.

ABout
The Author
Tena enjoys writing about ways to help children in their everyday lives. A native of Pennsylvania who was born and raised in beautiful rural Juniata County, Tena currently resides in York County.
She is the author of three books in the Digby’s Discoveries series: The Fruit of the Spirit, The Armor of God, and Choose to Love. A fourth one in the series, Wonderfully Made, will be published soon.
The books are a compilation of relatable short stories. Her wonderful children and precious grandchildren are the inspiration for her writing. Digby is modeled after one of her grandsons.
While the stories are aimed primarily at children in elementary and intermediate grades, she hopes children of all ages will enjoy and learn through the practical, everyday life experiences Digby encounters. Hidden meanings are woven throughout the stories for readers to ponder and discover. At the conclusion of each short story, there are Bible verses and questions to think about and discuss with others in hopes that all will come to know and grow closer to God through their own personal journey.
God led her to write these books following her retirement from her 35-year career in the Human Resources field. Spending quality time with God, family, friends, and writing are most important to her. When she’s not doing these things, she can be found volunteering, traveling, reading, and walking.
